Writing prompts
Look at the prompt below and freewrite on it. If you want another prompt simply click the dandelion button and another will appear. But first, a quick introduction to freewriting. All you need to do is write freely - without stopping or correcting anything. Start with the given prompt, set your clock or timer to the allocated time (usually between 5-8 minutes, although longer freewrites can be very productive) and write! Write as fast as you can, and if you get stuck, write that too (e.g. I'm stuck here, don't know what else to say...). Don't worry about grammar, punctuation or spelling, or about making sense. Don't allow your inner critic a chance to stick even a toe through the door. Follow your first thought and don't worry about keeping to the topic, the prompt is there to get you started, nothing more! There are no rules attached to freewriting - well, just one - once you've started, don't stop until the buzzer goes!
